Overview
Albion Projects was awarded a fixed lump sum contract to construct these new commercial premises at 91 Wilston Road, Newmarket.
 
The works involved the demolition of existing slabs and footings and the construction of two new office/retail tenancies.
 
The new structure consisted of timber piles, concrete ground slabs, blockwork walls and structural steel roof and mezzanine framing. The electrical and air-conditioning works were completed by Albion Projects on a “design & construct” basis.
 
The works were completed on a very tight site in close proximity to both overhead power lines and busy Wilston Road. Extensive consultation and planning was required with both Brisbane City Council and Energex to ensure the safety of both the public and the workers. Albion Projects was able to construct the works whilst still maintaining pedestrian access to the narrow footpath on Wilston Road.
 
Works will be completed on site in the first week of July 2009.
